Yoga

We invite you to a 45-minute trauma-informed restorative yoga class. This class embodies a meditative state of connecting the mind, body, and breath. You will be guided through gentle, passive stretches to open up the body and release tension. This class is a perfect way to practice self-love by giving the nervous system a chance to rest. Bring yourself, your mat, and comfortable attire!

Horticulture

Grow where you are planted. Allow yourself to sow and grow with intention and self-compassion. Did you know that horticulture therapy builds confidence, decreases depression, and increases feelings of empowerment? This activity allows you to create a personalized succulent plant. You will select one value, write it on a popsicle stick, and place it in your mini succulent planter.

Essential Oils

Health and wellness are such important focuses for each of us. Giving our bodies adequate nutrition, sleep, emotional support, and providing the environment for a healthy gut are all important elements of a healthy lifestyle. Essential oils and easily digestible, whole food supplements can be a powerful support to helping you reach your health and wellness goals.

Join us to learn what essential oils are, how they work, and the best oils to address common ailments and health goals. We will discuss the various ways to use oils to get the most benefit, including a special emphasis on how oils can support our mind and mood. We will walk you through specific hands-on training to experience the power of oils first-hand!

Intuitive Eating

Participants will first receive a brief introduction to the 10 principles of intuitive eating.

Next, there will be several exercises that participants will have an opportunity to engage in, starting with two meditation exercises to help teach you how to get in touch with your body’s signals. There will be guidance and feedback given to participants on how to become more in touch with their hunger cues.

Participants will have an opportunity to fill out their own “emotion sensation wheel” to help navigate how certain physical sensations in your body derive from various emotional states.

Participants will have an opportunity to engage in intuitive eating practices while simultaneously getting to know others in the group! Participants will learn about two techniques to help them become more intentional and observant of their eating practices while also having conversations with guided questions (if desired).

Another exercise provided is called “petals of worth”. In this activity, you will have a chance to reflect on characteristics about yourself that you value, apart from physical appearance.

Next, participants are welcome to engage in a time of journaling. During this time, participants will be asked to take into consideration food rules or family rules that were created in your home(s) growing up that are most challenging to reconcile with. Participants will be asked to create a list of mantras or compassionate statements that you can repeat to yourself when intrusive thoughts around food rules start to come up.

Last, participants are welcome to engage in self-reflection around your own dieting journey and the effects it has had. Once participants feel comfortable, you will be encouraged to look back at the perceived benefits and identify what you can adapt to your eating habits at mealtime.

The goal is, to create an individualized eating pattern that works for you, feels good, and is both flexible and satisfying.

Journaling

At this station, participants will explore a variety of activities that utilize journaling as a stress management and self-care technique.

First, participants will get a brief explanation of journaling and the use of journaling for self-care.

Clients will have 5 to 10 minutes to decorate their journals.

Clients will then participate in a guided journaling activity in which all participants journal on the same prompt for 10 to 15 minutes. After the end of the activity, participants will have the opportunity to discuss their experience with the group, if desired.

Next, participants will choose from a list of prompts to write about for 10 minutes.  Again, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the journaling exercise and any differences in this activity from the previous activity.

For the last activity, participants will free write for 10 minutes about any topic they choose and then compare and contrast each experience to help determine which modality they preferred.

Participants will also rate their stress level before and after journaling exercises to measure effectiveness of journaling on stress reduction.

Prompt for First Journaling Exercise:

Describe in detail a place that brings you calm.  It can be real or imagined.  What do you hear, see and smell?  What do you feel in this place?

Prompts for Second Journaling Exercise (Choose 1 of the Following)

  1.  Today, I feel . . . . .

  2. The best advice I’ve ever received is . . . . .

  3. I am my most authentic self when I . . . . .
