Eat the frog first! That is my core belief system. Imagine you have a plate full of your favorite foods, everything you can imagine just waiting to be eaten…but there is a frog on the plate too. Do you eat the good stuff first and save the frog for last? No! Because you can’t enjoy all of your favorite foods on your plate if you are dreading the fact that you have to eat the frog. Eat the frog first! Get it over with and then savor the rest of the meal. What is your frog? Is it your depression? Your unstable marriage? Your addiction? What are you putting off not dealing with and moving around your plate? It won’t go away, and is staring back at you until you deal with it. Therapy can help you eat that frog metaphorically so that you can move past it and enjoy life like you are meant to enjoy it. All it takes is the first bite!
