This Practice is Fundamental to Knowing Yourself
The biggest bully is the one who lives inside of us. That bully is quick to judge, be mean and keep you stuck. It’s says things to you like...
“You’re not worthy.”
“You’re doing it wrong.”
“You’re going to fail...again.”
"Your past will always define you."
“You’re only as good as you look.”
More often than not, we buy-in to the bully. We believe it. It starts dictating our actions.
It causes immense pain.
In order to alleviate the pain and unhelpful actions of your inner bully it is fundamental to practice self-compassion.
Self-compassion is the ability to get in touch with your inner bully and offer kindness. It’s being non-judgemental of your personal inadequacies and failures. Self-compassion embraces the truth that you are human and all humans experience pain, failure and inadequacies.
A daily self-compassion practice starts with sitting still. Getting in touch with your inner bully.
Understanding what pain, failure or inadequacy that your bully nagging and then saying…
“I hear you bully and what you have to say is painful.”
“Being human is painful.”
